Intent

At South Camberley Primary and Nursery School, we aim to deliver our curriculum in the most memorable, exciting and effective way possible, where high standards are always sought and attention is always given to motivating children to be lifelong learners.

We have carefully considered the needs of the children in our community so that we can correctly support them to be confident, independent and successful learners ready for the next stage in their education as responsible citizens.

Diversity and British values is a key theme woven through our curriculum; it begins with our carefully selected reading texts combined with a rich topic-based curriculum which encourages curiosity and develops practical skills to support children to develop resilience, problem solving and a love of learning. We aim to teach develop our children’s skills and knowledge across the curriculum and enhance their enjoyment through offering a range of theme days, enrichment opportunities and visits and visitors throughout the year.

Implementation

We maintain a sharp focus on the core subjects of English and maths whilst ensuring our children benefit from our engaging and carefully chosen topics across the subjects. Where possible, links are made to deepen children’s understanding whilst maintaining the integrity of the curriculum. 

We benefit from specialist teachers for PE, Art, Music, Forest school and for French in Year 6, we also provide additional specialist support for teaching computing across the school. As a result our children benefit from an enriched progressive and vibrant curriculum.
